My experience with special needs children...
I dealt with special needs children at the school where I taught English. In my 4th grade class, there was a girl with mobility issues as well as some comprehension challenges. She had a vibrant personality, which made one forget there was anything deficient in her.
There was also a boy who was autistic. At first I didn't understand why he did not participate in the class lessons. When I learned of his issue, the situation became much clearer. He was active and friendly but could at times be very sensitive to things which it appeared only he understood. I gave him full support whenever these instances arose.
