More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a Special needs teacher in Arizona for about three years. That, so far, has been my very favorite career. I primarily taught kiddos from 8 to 12 years old. They learned American history, geography, math, fun science, and also social skills, emotional intelligence, and self regulation. Now in Texas, I work as a Registered Behavioral Therapist (RBT) with kiddos 3 to 8 years old. We heavily focus on self regulation and life skills, with lots of fun in between.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
There are so many fun things I love doing when I get to hang out with the kiddos I work with! Indoor activities might include reading, puzzles, legos, board games, simple science experiments, crafts, no bake cookies, and sometimes a movie. Outdoors we go to the park, search for silly bugs 🐞, play soccer, do chalk art, and go on nature walks/ scavenger hunts!
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve worked with special needs children, primarily with ASD. for my entire childcare career. Initially taking an interest and volunteering throughout my own elementary and high school experience. As a teacher at a private special needs school, each of my students had an autism diagnosis, which helped me see how different and special each child was in their own way. I saw many different interests, stims, behaviors, big personalities. And I’ve been able to see those things develop in the tiny tots that I work with in ABA as well.
