I admit I may not have any long-term experience in child care.. though I've worked with different children of various age groups as a mentor and teacher assistant. • Worked as a mentor in a classroom environment with children between the ages of 7-16 years old for about 3-4 years.
•I am currently a teacher's assistant at a Daycare where I help care for children between the ages of 2-8 years old.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is simply making sure that your child is the same as when you left their care. I believe that when the parent is not around, there is a personality that children tend to develop and grow. For a nanny to get that perspective and pass it on to the parents so that they can help their child develop that with them as well is a honor.

My experience with special needs children...

I have dealt with children who have Autism and or Autistic traits to some degree.
They were within the range of 3-5 years old.
*Please know that I have no experience dealing with special needs children who are older than the age group mentioned above, but I am more than willing to learn how to care for your children correctly and safely*

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment as a Nanny was this time I was taking care of a little girl (6) and that day we painted eachother's nails. Later that day her mother explained to me that she wouldn't let anyone else paint her nails aside from her as her mother and that she kept the nail polish on for a period of time. That really made me happy, knowing that it was an activity that she enjoyed & that she was comfortable enough to let me do her nails.
