A little bit about me

Hello!
I have worked with children for 9 years now, teaching swim lessons as well as nannying and working at the Building For Kids in their Art Studio. I have gone through First Aid certification and CPR certification!
I love working with children, and also have experience with children with special needs. I enjoy spending time with children because I feel like I learn just as much from them as they (hopefully!) do from me.
I have always loved learning as much as I can about anything I can, which means I have a million and one things to do with kiddos! I love planning art-based activities the most, and enjoy planning lessons to help work towards any goals you or they may have, especially with reading.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a swim teacher for 5 years, and have babysat for as long as I can remember!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going outside and doing anything- little scavenger hunts to learn about plants and animals around us, going swimming, playing mini game tournaments... Anything we can think of!
I also like incorporating art into whatever they’re interested with- one of the girls and I would make collages about what she was interested in, or go draw plants in her yard and then go learn as much as we could. When it would rain, we’d sit inside and pretend to travel, playing around finding games from other places or watching little videos about where she wanted to go.
We’d also make a lot of games or competitions to work on building healthy habits, whether it was about her goals with learning, healthy eating, or doing the boring chores she didn’t want to do!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Helping the kiddos see what they’re capable of! I love seeing them learn new ways to work through frustration or harder emotions. When we work and they start to learn how to work through their obstacles, getting to be a part of their excitement about their achievements is unmatched. I’d call myself extremely lucky to be a part of it.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve worked with kids with behavioral and social issues, as well as with children with autism, asperger’s, Down Syndrome, and non-verbal children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Lily wanted to go kayak last summer, and by the time we got there she wouldn’t stop paddling- while we were going with the waves! When she realized how hard it was to paddle back, I ended up walking the kayak over a mile along the shore line, while she practiced her coaching skills. At least her humor made the long walk fun!
