My name is Glissenda...Gliss for short. I'm currently a Physical therapist assistant. I have a 24 year old daughter. I've never been a nanny but I've worked with children including special needs, and obviously raised a child of my own. I Love children. I love reading to them, playing with toys that encourage thinking and problem solving. I'm affectionate and warm. I speak fluent English with some Spanish. I worked at edu kids for a few months before I passed my boards for PTA. At edu kids I worked in every room, newborns to 6 yrs old. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a teachers aide at edu kids. Edu kids is a child care center for newborn's to 6 years of age. I worked with all ages while I was employed there. I left edu kids because I passed my Physical therapist assistant boards exam and found a job in the healthcare field. I am looking to find employment outside of the healthcare system now.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I LOVE crafts. I do crafts for every holiday. I very much enjoy reading books to children. I enjoy when I get into the characters of the story and the children get excited and very interested in the story. I love the outdoors. I like playing games or doing activities that encourage thinking and problem solving.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe and warm environment for the child you are caring for. The second most important part is giving the parents piece of mind in knowing their child is in the hands of a good hearted person, and their child is with someone who can keep their child safe.

My experience with special needs children...

I've worked with children with downs syndrome, Spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, autism, failure to thrive, shunts, cerebral palsy, developmental disabilities, and behavioral children. I did an internship at Associated Ot PT in the Kenmore school district.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments while working with children was a time myself and other staff members had our kids outside to play. One of the kids had Spina bifida and was wheelchair bound. She usually watched without participating in the play. We created a game that allowed her to participate while being in her wheelchair, and she was full of smiles the rest of the day
