More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Currently I work with ages 3 months to 5 years at the Children's Nature Academy in Eau Claire. I also work as a swim coach with children ages 7 years-17 years working on teaching them the skills they need to be safe in the water. Previously, I worked for two years at the New Richmond Centre as a swim instructor and lifeguard. I taught a wide range of swimming levels (ages 2-13). I also coached the New Richmond Tiger Sharks swim team for a year.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy swimming and teaching children how to swim, if hired I would also provide water safety and private swimming lessons. I also enjoy reading, coloring, and playing outside.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part about being a nanny is helping kids develop skills that give them confidence and a sense of enjoyment. I think that developing skills that help children become independent (such as general water safety, learning how to keep themselves clean) are valuable tools that children should learn.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience teaching swimming lessons for autistic children, as well as working with daycare children who are non-verbal. At the daycare that I work at I interact with children who have diagnosed autism on a weekly basis. I volunteer at a local elementary school as well so I work with teachers to specialize instruction for students requiring IEPs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Though I have not yet been a full-time nanny my favorite childcare moment was teaching Somerset swimming lessons at the Centre. I taught the same group of roughly 20 students for two months and getting to see their improvement was so fun and rewarding!
