Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I volunteered for two consecutive years as a counselor for 5th graders at an outdoor education camp, where I lived on-site with students for a full week each session. In this role, I was responsible for the direct supervision, safety, and well-being of a group of children 24/7. I supported daily activities, ensured students followed schedules and behavioral expectations, and helped facilitate hands-on environmental and team-building experiences. This experience strengthened my ability to stay attentive, responsible, and calm in active group settings while fostering a positive, supportive environment for children away from home.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like to have a few easy go-to activities depending on the kids’ energy. For creative time, I usually do drawing, collages, or sticker stories. When they’re more energetic, I go for obstacle courses, freeze dance, scavenger hunts, or simple ball games. Outside, it’s usually sidewalk chalk, bubbles, playground time, or short walks where they pick the direction. For something a bit more structured, I’ll do cooking simple snacks, alphabet or counting games, pretend restaurant, or turn-taking story games. I also use a lot of pretend play like forts, dress-up, puppet shows, or playing with toys and making up scenarios. When things need to calm down, I’ll do reading, LEGO or building sets, puzzles, coloring, or audiobooks.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is making sure kids are safe while also building real trust with them. Safety always comes first, both physically and emotionally, by staying aware, making good decisions, and being present. But just as important is the relationship you build. When kids feel comfortable, understood, and cared for, everything else becomes easier. They listen more, open up more, and feel more at ease. At the end of the day, it’s not just about keeping them busy, but about being someone they can genuinely trust and feel safe with.
