Children with autism and certain mental disabilities are children I've worked with from time to time primarily during school. Emotional support, communication skills (not limited to verbal) and behavioral management are things I've learned are extremely helpful in caring for children with mental special needs. I've had 5 months of experience with children with special needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was when I cared for one of my auntie's twin sons, who had just woken up. I remember making a strange, almost otherworldly noise, causing him to burst out in an adorable fit of laughter. Later on, I prepared for him some cake!
