Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been an elementary school teacher and focused mainly on grades k-3. I do have experience with older children as well. Before I got my degree from URI I privately nannied for years, children of all ages.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to stay active with children. Routine and scheduling is important to me while also being flexible. I’m the summer I spend lots of time outside. Go to the zoo, parks, library’s. I think it’s important to be active in the community so I’m always looking for free activities in towns and going to the children’s museums. I feel physical stimulation is very important for young children, so getting out of the house where they can run around and play as much as they want is important.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Love. Children need to know they are loved and from that they can build connections with you. If they do not feel connected and respected by their nanny then they will not want to listen and learn from their nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked as an aid for special needs school children before I finished my teaching degree. While I do not have a special education degree we did extensively study special education and are certified within our degree to have them in a regular classroom. While being a classroom teacher we did have children immersed in the standard education classes who I worked closely with as their teacher.
