A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Hannah. I currently work as a paraprofessional in the education system, which keeps me pretty busy during the day. However, during the weekdays, I am free after 5:00PM. On the weekends I have almost complete open availability. I have a passion for working with kiddos of all ages and do not have a preference. It doesn't matter whether I'm assisting a child learning to potty train or teaching a toddler their animal sounds. I enjoy it all! I have lots of hands-on experience from being both an assistant teacher and lead teacher in daycares. I also have 2 years of in-home nanny experience. With all of this experience, it has given me so much knowledge. I have experience with behavior management as well as helping children to communicate their emotions and regulate said emotions. I am also First Aid and CPR certified. My motto is no child left behind. I believe every child is deserving of respect, empathy, love, and understanding.

is to remember to have empathy and patience. Children/teens are learning to navigate their boundaries, their feelings, life in general. It is important to remain calm and understanding while also maintaining our own firm boundaries. I also am a firm believer in giving choices, no matter how small, in order to build independence and trust.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I've had so many memories with nannying and working in daycare that bring a smile to my face. The one that comes to mind first is when I was nannying for a family with a four-year-old with autism. The kiddo and I were sitting on his bed, and we were picking books to read together. He kept handing me this book about Max, the dog from the Grinch. I must have read it 6 times in that sitting. Every time I read it to him, I would do silly little voices and point out the pictures to him. He started to mimic the same faces and voices and giggle uncontrollably. This specific kiddo struggled with expressing himself and talking for a long time. I have been along for his whole journey, and seeing him communicate and get genuine enjoyment out of this book was such a rewarding moment.
