A little bit about me

I have almost 15 years experience as a nanny/house manager. I have taken 2 years of child education courses. I managed a Day Care at one time. I have worked with multiple families in which I became part of the family unit. My passion is work ing with children of all ages. I provide a nanny log for parents of our day together. I engage children in activities/crafts/games. I transport children to activities, prepare meals, light housekeeping/laundry, I develop a consistent routine which helps children adapt to a new caretaker, I use positive reinforcement with the children. I believe in open communication/transparency with the parents always, I am reliable/punctual and have each day planned ahead of time with activities the child likes. Children adapt much better when they know what they are doing daily.

Crafts/games/scavenger hunts (I design), walks to the park/or riding bikes, swimming, baking treats with older children, reading books, water/sand tables, fishing, picnics at park, feeding ducks at pond, zoo, jum houses, and I research for local activities/events that aligns with the child’s interests.

Is the relationship I build with the children. I have loved many children over the years and had the honor of watching them grow up. Making a difference in a child’s life is a gift, one that I take very seriously.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is when I was hired to work with an Autistic 11 years old boy with ADHD as well. My first day he said to me that he didn’t like Nannies and he makes them all leave. I told him I want to be your friend and do fun things together. Of course we had homework/small chores. However, I listened to him, his concerns, fears, and anger too. 2 months later we were riding bikes together, going sledding, and I helped him win a Boy Scout Competition. I wanted him to know that I was first his confidant/friend - not a dictator that barked orders. He did have outbursts with his brother that could get physical. However, through my experience I was able to reach him while still enforcing boundaries and good behavior.
