More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My childcare experience combines child development education, professional work, and raising two sons, one with special needs. I have Early Childhood Education (ECE) and child development credits and worked as a Behavior Specialist in a high school setting, supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs, using de-escalation strategies, and collaborating with school teams.

As part owner of Orphans at Play and World Children Hosting, I supported children and families through major transitions. I also have experience supporting individuals with autism and ADHD.

I’m a Registered Therapeutic Counselor Candidate (RTCc) in Canada, Certified Life Coach, and professional writer, currently taking a sabbatical to focus on writing. I bring patience, clear communication, and respect for each child’s needs and family routines to part-time childcare.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy following children’s lead and discovering what sparks their curiosity. Whether we’re creating characters through dramatic play, reading a favorite book, playing board games, or enjoying sports and outdoor games, I like making our time together engaging and fun.
I also enjoy preparing simple snacks and meals together, exploring creative learning activities, and making room for quiet time when children need to recharge. I adapt activities to each child’s age, interests, energy, and support needs, giving them room to choose, explore, and be themselves.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is keeping children safe while helping them feel understood and cared for. I bring patience and take time to learn each child’s needs, communication style, and what helps them feel comfortable.

I believe in working with parents, respecting family routines, and finding strategies that help each child succeed. That might mean adjusting an activity, offering choices, or allowing extra time and encouragement.

Above all, I want children to enjoy our time together through play, learning, and experiences that reflect their interests. Feeling safe, supported, and free to be themselves matters most.

My experience with special needs children...

Supporting children and individuals with additional needs is an important part of my professional and personal experience. I specialize in neurodiversity, with experience in behavioral support, fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), autism, and ADHD.

My background includes working as a Behavior Specialist in a high school, supporting private clients with autism and ADHD, and raising a child with special needs. These experiences have taught me to look beyond behavior and get to know the individual—their communication style, interests, routines, and what helps them feel comfortable.

I bring patience, clear communication, and a calm approach. I work closely with families to understand their child’s needs, follow established strategies, and adapt activities and expectations so each child feels included and supported.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my favorite moments with children have been making puppets together and watching their creativity take over. I love seeing the characters they invent, hearing their stories, and sharing the laughter that follows.

I also enjoy learning activities that spark curiosity and board games that bring us together for some friendly fun. Whether we’re exploring something new, solving a puzzle, or laughing over a game, I enjoy following their interests and celebrating their discoveries.

Football and hockey are favorites of mine, too! Sharing a child’s enthusiasm for a sport or team is another lovely way to connect. I value those moments when children feel comfortable being themselves and we’re simply enjoying our time together.
