I started a volunteer garden for a group of children in Vermont. They were thrilled we had so much fun and Incorporated artwork into science into the reality of getting to eat their very own fruits and vegetables!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts and crafts, basic cooking, and reading allowed. Once in awhile a movie is okay but I feel the kids get days get too much time in front of the screen so I rather be doing something else unless it's a special occasion or we're all just tuckered out.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I feel the most important part about being a nanny is giving peace of mind to the parent or parents but also incorporating education into play. It's very important for the child to be able to trust the caretaker, and for the parents to feel safe leaving them in the care of someone who is someone other than themselves but everybody needs a break everybody needs a little piece of mind and of course everybody needs a little fun
My experience with special needs children...
I raised my own son with special needs. he has autism and he is profoundly deaf so I do know some sign language of course. Have a lot of patience and any mother of a special needs kid knows that it's a lot of work and I'm happy to help anyway I can.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I had one child who was absolutely convinced he could blow bubbles in the rain. He was a little overtired but I said to him I'd love to see him do that of course it didn't work out, he cried but woke up with a smile on his face saying that he had just done science because his experiment had failed! All that made me laugh and laugh. I still miss him he was a great kid!
