Hello! My name is Iris, I just moved to California from Brooklyn, NY. I have been working in childcare for the past 7 years and have experience both in schools and in the home. Other than nannying, I have been a preschool teacher as well as a tutor and an after school teacher at an elementary school. The bulk of my experience is with younger children (ages 1-7) but I have worked with older kiddos as well.
I absolutely love working with kids and being able to provide care and help to families with a lot on their plate. When with kiddos I like to keep things calm, entertaining, and child-led. I have soooooo many but the first thing that came to mind actually happened after I stopped working for my most recent family: the mom sent me a video recording of her daughter asking me (very seriously) if I "was born out of an iris flower?"
The stories really are endless though, I've also loved being a child's weekend caretaker and having them express feeling safe and happy on our adventures; watching kids run out into muddy sunny fields on those first few spring days; seeing the excitement on their faces when we find a new bug or flower or play spot; the list goes on and on
