A little bit about me

I am 21 years old and a big sister of two little brothers and two little sister, so I grew up as a caretaker in addition to an array of caretaking jobs for children growing up.

I love to engage with kids through crafts, art, reading, storytelling, and cooking. I have a passion for food and love to involve kids in food preparation. Meetings kids where they are by encouraging their interests is always very rewarding to me. In previous jobs I have made Harry Potter wands, choreographed lightsaber battles, and run commutes for ballet lessons.

I have experience as a writing advising tutor in University and am always happy to help with homework. I graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 2019, and University out of state before returning to the valley following the pandemic. I love animals and am very pet friendly, and love to cook, read, and make jewelry in my free time.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I nannied for a family in Carbondale from 2014 to 2019 consistently in the Summers and on and off during the school year. I have also been an educator for a one time program with the Tacoma Urban League, exploring the Puget Sound by sailboat, and teaching about the environmental history of the area.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing various arts and crafts which in the past has included self watering plants, Harry Potter wands, and lava lamps. I also love to involve kids in meal preparation. I like to explore the community around us, and often visit local art galleries, museums, shops, and parks, but where we visit is always influenced by a child's interests.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel the most important part is making sure both the parents and children feel safe and blank. Engaging with children so that they feel cared for, enriched, and supported is important, and I feel like parents can feel more comfortable with trusting a nanny to care for their children when they feel like not only are needs being met, but children look forward to nanny time.

My experience with special needs children...

My own little sister (11 years old) is on the spectrum for autism, and struggles with sensory overstimulation, delayed communication, and hyperactivity. I feel like these are all relatable issues to struggle with for everyone in different capacities, and my sister has really taught me that empathy, communication, and laughter can go a long way with anyone. Outside of my family, I admit that I have very little experience with special needs children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The family I worked for the had two elementary school aged kids I looked after and really bonded with. I watched them for about three years until my family moved and about a year later I started watching them again for special occasions. By that time the elder sibling was in middle school and was very independent, and his parents told me he would most likely leave with friends but needed to be home at a certain time. The first day I came over to babysit his friends rolled up on their bikes asking to hang out and he told them “sorry my babysitter is here, we haven’t seen her in a while, and we have plans”. It was so sweet! We had a great night cooking and movie watching after a couple hours of show-and-tell where they caught me up on all the new things in their life.

Hello! Working with children of all ages is one of my favorite things to do. Being able to care for children and take some stress off of a family becomes so rewarding. I have been babysitting for 6 years now. It by far is the best job I have had. Outside of babysitting I am a full time college student here in Grand Junction. I enjoy hanging out with friends, being outdoors, going on hikes and so much more. I really look forward to finding a family that needs some extra help in caring for their their child or children. I am very responsible, respectful, trustworthy, and outgoing.
