More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have babysat for the same family for 3 years. One of the kids was heard of hearing so I would use my ASL skills I learned in high school to communicate with him. I would watch the two boys and prepare meals for them. I would also do some light housekeeping.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing with their favorite toys. Riding bikes with them. Watching movies together. Helping them with homework. Coloring, writing, and reading with them!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is making sure the kids are comfortable around you. Its important to be assertive with them so they will listen but its also so important that they don't dread talking to me. I want them to feel like I am their friend but also someone who they need to respect.

My experience with special needs children...

While babysitting a boy that was hard of hearing, I also tutored his brother who had learning disabilities. I helped him to concentrate on his homework and not get distracted. I taught him math lessons he struggled in, while encouraged him when he wanted to quit.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment when babysitting is when the kids finally get comfortable with me. When they finally remember my name and are excited on the days I get to I come over and hangout with them. Thats when they tell me about their days, life at school and any and every other thing they think about:)
