One of my favorite nanny moments was with a very shy child I cared for. One day he quietly walked over, climbed into my lap with his favorite book, and waited for me to read it. I gently encouraged him to ask for the story himself, and after a moment he softly and politely did. We ended up spending about 45 minutes reading and cuddling on the couch. It was such a sweet moment and really showed how much more comfortable and confident he had become. Seeing that growth over time felt so incredibly special, and I think fondly on that often.
