A little bit about me

My name is Ismaelia Dejoie. I was born in New York raised in Haiti for 16 years. After the 2010 earthquake, I moved back to NYC where I finished high school. I then went to UVA to study Architecture. I’ve been in DC for 2 years. 1.5 months ago I was working with a Technology consulting firm called Level Access as a Customer Success Manager. Before that, I was working as a Babysitter and a Nursery-Caregiver for a couple of years. I really enjoyed it because it allowed a less stressful environment, and permitted the opportunity to have a good influence on these kids bright minds.
I speak several languages including French, Haitian Creole, Spanish and English. Just like in making art ( feel free to refer to my portfolio), I like to practice patience and good work ethic with my clients and coworkers.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I babysat Guilda while she was still learning to walk comfortably and power through stairs and steep surfaces. We would go to the park about twice a week, where she would insist on climbing up the slide a through the kid's park. I would always be a little hesitant to let her do that but she was always so fearless. As time went by and she grew older, Guilda was eventually able to climb up the slide without any help and was able to keep up with older kids. This was definitely one of my favorite moments with her, as it made me realize the amount of time I got to spend with her and how she grew so fast. My first time at the park with her she threw a tantrum and did not let me change her, and towards the end, she put more and more trust in our relationship and grew into a beautiful flower.
