as a teacher's assistant for a kindergarten class summer session and as an attendant at a daycare for close to a year in my late teens. Also, as an eldest daughter, I supported my Mom in caring for my younger brother who is 7 years my junior.

I prioritize emotional regulation as the foundation when relating to special needs children as I believe that trust and safety is the cornerstone of all healthy interactions.

The most important part about being a nanny...

happened recently. Izabelle has not been in my consistent care in over two years. However, we have maintained contact and I occasionally step in when her parents need support. I have always called her Izzy and I found out she "doesn't like that". She very articulately explained what alternate options existed. I cared for her from 4 months to just before her 3rd birthday, she's 5 now. It is very rewarding to see her ability to assert her wants so eloquently at such a young age.
