Safety first always, then they must bond with you and they must trust you and the family too. I could never trust anyone with my children, so I know how parents feel, it is very scary.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a 17 yr old Autistic son whom I have been his caregiver for all his life. It has been very challenging, but he brings us so much joy every day. I have to assist with feeding, dressing, hygiene and many more things.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Watching a toddler take it's first steps or being toilet trained, that is my greatest joy to see.
