raising my younger siblings, cousins, and family friends kids, always being the person someone would call if they needed help with children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
coloring, drawing, dancing, singing, simple baking(they get to help mix and measure, not touch the oven), i love to do creative things and help kids express themselves through art, and i love to teach life lessons through fun activities, like how to keep hands to yourself, how you should and shouldn’t talk to other people, and how to clean up after yourself and do chores just because they should, and we can make it into a game.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is making sure you’re PRESENT. working with kids isn’t just a job, it’s a type of life. you cant just show up, watch them, and get paid. they’re real people you’re responsible for the livelihood of, there isn’t room for slacking off, and you can’t treat the children like clients. you have to put effort to bond with the kid(s), make sure meals are on time, nobody goes to bed hungry or upset about anything, make sure they know if something’s wrong they can tell you, because you’re not just supposed to be a nanny, you’re supposed to be like a friend.
My experience with special needs children...
I haven’t professionally babysat a special needs child, but i helped raise my 8 year old brother who has adhd and autism. i know he’s a sweet boy, he just has a hard time recognizing right from wrong sometimes and he needs a little extra patience and care.
