I was recently a daycare teacher where I would supervise a classroom of ten two year olds! I was previously an assistant teacher at the same school and have had experience supervising infants, toddlers, preschool and kindergarten prep.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to get creative and love to incorporate sensory play whenever I get the chance! I especially love activities that engage the child and are educational, whether it be learning colors, numbers, shapes, animals, or the alphabet. Sometimes the activities can get a little messy and it presents the opportunity to teach self help skills by cleaning up after ourselves!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing to me about being a nanny is that the child feels and knows they are safe and loved and that the parents trust that. It is important to me that children know how loved they are and their worth, despite their age.
My experience with special needs children...
I babysat these two boys from the time they were 2 and 5 until they were 9 and 12. During that time, one was diagnosed with autism and got the opportunity to work with a child with special needs hands on. For my senior project in high school, I decided to work in an integrated preschool classroom where half the class was general education and the other half is special needs. That was an overall wonderful experience and I learned a lot during that time.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many and they all involve lots of laughs! My favorite moments are all the fashion shows, dinner time “police interrogations” and endless dance parties! All the kids I have had the joy to work with are so fun and creative!
