Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’m newer to professional childcare and have not worked as a nanny yet. However, I have previous caregiving and household-support experience that taught me to be patient, dependable, attentive to routines, and comfortable taking responsibility for another person’s needs. I’m also currently pursuing work as a NYC substitute paraprofessional because I’m interested in building a career supporting children and families.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy creative and hands-on activities like drawing, painting, crafts, and other projects. I also enjoy reading, playing games, going for walks, and encouraging physical activity through things like biking, swimming, and other age-appropriate movement. I like finding activities that are fun while also giving children opportunities to be creative, active, curious, and engaged.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny is building trust. Children should feel safe, comfortable, and respected, and parents should know they can rely on you. I also think it’s important to get to know each child as an individual and create a routine where they can feel supported while still having fun and being themselves.
My experience with special needs children...
I don’t yet have professional experience working with children with special needs. I’m currently pursuing work as a NYC substitute paraprofessional, and one of the reasons I’m interested in working with children is to learn how to better support children with different needs, personalities, and learning styles. I’m patient, attentive, willing to learn, and comfortable following established routines and instructions.
