Just being there for the kids and the parents! It's about making that bond with a family. You need to make yourself reliable but also make sure the kids and parents are comfortable with you! Their kids are the most important thing to them and they must feel like their kids will be safe but also have fun!
The most important part about being a nanny...
That's a hard one! I have so many! One of my favorites is probably when I was babysitting 4 kids, a pair of twins who are almost 2, a 4 yr old and a 6 yr old. We built this awesome fort and played in it for hours. They pretended to be ghosts, dogs, adults, etc. It was so much fun. When it was time for bed, I got them all ready, read them their favorite scripture story and tucked them in. As I was tucking the oldest in bed he said, "When we wake up can we all play in the fort?"
I went on to explain that I wouldn't be here in the morning and that sadly I needed to clean up the fort. He was bummed of course but then he said,
"Okay well before you take it down, make sure you take a long video of it and tell my mommy exactly how to make it"
So of course, I did!
