A little bit about me

Hi my name is Jean Marie, I live in Virginia Beach and I have worked as a Nanny and Personal Assistant and ESL teacher with families and individuals from all over the globe for 20 plus years. I do not have any children of my own other than my little parrot so my schedule is extremely flexible. I would prefer that my little parrot comes to work with me he is very sociable and loves interacting with kids/stealing their food. We are like Granny and Tweety Bird from Looney Tunes living in more modern times;) My previous experience teaching ESL enables me to be able to help parents and students with developing and implementing a schedule/curriculum if the child(ren) will be attending online classes from home.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 4 nieces and 1 nephew so even when I’m not working when I go to visit family for the holidays Aunt Nanny Jean is always the designated built in childcare volunteer. Being around children of all ages and dealing with their random antics is second nature for me.

As an English major I enjoy helping children refine the skills of reading for relaxation and writing creatively.

I enjoy knowing that I can help bring a sense of security and stability to busy families who need an extra set of hands. I appreciate the life long bonds that are made even when we go our separate ways.

My experience with special needs children...

One of my nieces is Autistic and learning how to creatively cater to her unique needs while also helping her learn to function in the world as a productive individual has been an eye opening but humbling experience.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The last few years I have had the privilege of seeing a few of the little babies and young toddlers I used to Nanny for 20 years ago graduate high school and college!! I would say it makes me feel old but I’m not the parents LOL so I’ll say that it has definitely made me even more aware of just how fast the time passes! The days are undoubtedly long but the years are gone in an instant. I like being able to help make those long days a little bit easier for the families and then when the years have flown by it’s nice to reconnect with the families and reminisce about those memories that seemed like yesterday.
