The most important part about being a nanny...
Being reliable and consistent with not just engaging with the children but the families as well. Communcating with the family on not just basic routines, but how their child responded to that day's dynamic, fun moments (and tense ones, too) I think it gets overlooked as a nanny that we don;t just want your kids to be safe, we want to see them thrive as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
At this point, I was working with this family for a couple of months, and one of their daughters (aged 2 turning 3 then) was always a bit more shy and quiet with me, and I heard her refer to me as her best friend, I almost cried I was so touched that she viewed me in that light. I was very honored that I was able to create a space for her where she didn't have to 'do too much" to be seen or validated.
