A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Jennifer, an Occupational Therapist with 4+ years of professional experience working with children, from infants to school-aged kids. My background includes infant care, early childhood development, developmental stimulation, and therapeutic support.

I’m First Aid certified and patient, loving, responsible, and confident caring for babies and young children. I enjoy creating fun, age-appropriate activities that encourage children to learn, explore, develop independence, and reach milestones.

As an Occupational Therapist, I understand children’s individual needs and development. I believe great childcare is about more than keeping children safe—it’s about creating a nurturing environment where children feel happy, supported, and loved.

I’m happy to interview with families now and would love to find the right long-term fit. I’m available to start a full-time nanny position on January 25, 2027.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For several years, even before and throughout university, I have been consistently involved in childcare, infant development, and family support. As an Occupational Therapist, I have experience with children from as young as 3 months through toddlerhood and school age, with a special interest in infant and early childhood development.
My experience includes infant care and early stimulation, infant swimming and water-stimulation programs, children’s summer programs, and developmental activities for different age groups. I have also volunteered with programs supporting children from underserved communities and led games and activities at children’s events.
I have worked with first-time mothers, providing workshops on parenting, child development, and early childhood care. Working with children has always been part of my professional path, and I plan to pursue a Master’s focused on pediatric neurology and sensory integration.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing creative and educational activities with children, such as arts and crafts, sensory play, reading, singing, dancing, playing at the playground, making bubbles, and exploring nature. As an Occupational Therapist, I especially enjoy activities that support children’s physical, cognitive, sensory, social, and emotional development. I love adapting activities to each child’s age, interests, and abilities while making learning fun and meaningful. I also enjoy visiting bookstores, parks, museums, and other places where children can explore, learn, and develop independence.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and supportive environment where children feel comfortable being themselves and learning every day. I believe it is important to build trust with the child and their family, understand each child’s individual needs, and support their development through meaningful activities, patience, and positive guidance. As an occupational therapist, I especially value helping children become more independent while making sure they feel happy, confident, and cared for.

My experience with special needs children...

As an Occupational Therapist, I have professional experience supporting children with a variety of developmental and special needs. I worked at a pediatric therapy center, where I gained experience with children with different diagnoses, abilities, and developmental needs.

I also provided individualized in-home therapy to two children. I supported a 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, focusing on strengthening physical and cognitive skills while encouraging independence. I also worked with a child with autism and visual impairment, adapting activities to support his social, physical, and cognitive development.

This experience taught me to be highly observant, patient, and intentional in the way I care for children. I understand that every child develops differently, and I bring that knowledge into all of my childcare—creating age-appropriate activities, supporting milestones, encouraging independence, and adapting to each child’s individual personality and needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments was caring for a 9-month-old baby and supporting him through the entire process of learning to walk. I worked with him through age-appropriate activities that encouraged crawling, balance, coordination, standing, and eventually taking independent steps. Watching his progress week by week and finally seeing him walk on his own at 15 months was incredibly special to me. Being part of that journey, while having the trust and support of his parents, filled my heart with so much joy.

I have felt that same happiness in my professional work when children achieve goals they have worked hard for, such as gaining independence, holding a spoon on their own, or writing again. Seeing their progress and celebrating those achievements with them is one of the things I love most about working with children.
