All through high school, I babysat for families in my hometown and quickly realized how much I enjoyed being around kids. I loved getting to know each child and building real connections with the families I worked with. It felt good to be someone they trusted and looked forward to having around.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting creative with kids, whether we’re putting on a little play, playing with makeup, or trying out fun recipes in the kitchen. With my background in theatre and a passion for cooking, I enjoy helping children express themselves and explore new things in a playful, hands-on way. (I am also a part time makeup artist for many SCAD films) It’s always so rewarding to see them light up with confidence.
My experience with special needs children...
My mom was a special education teacher for most of my childhood, so I grew up spending time in her classroom and tagging along to events like the Special Olympics. Some of my favorite memories are from those days—laughing, learning, and being present with the kids she worked with. Being part of that world from such a young age taught me how to connect with kids in a real, meaningful way, and it’s something that’s stayed with me ever since.
