A little bit about me

Hi!
I am a certified teacher (preK-12 Special Education & Math) currently staying at home with my children (3y and 4m). I am a nurturing, reliable, and responsible care provider with advanced education in child development. Currently I can offer a spot to 1 child in my home alongside my children.

I follow a "common sense" attachment-theory-style caregiving philosophy. I always offer comfort and physical proximity as needed, believe in strong boundaries for safe/unsafe behaviors caringly and calmly enforced, and encourage independence. I believe in nature's positive impact on children's growth and development, so we spend as much time outside as possible both in our fenced in yard and at local parks.

In addition to teaching special education and technology integration for 9 years, I have provided respite care for families, and have spent quite a bit of time caring for my sister's children as well as my own.

- creating music with our instruments (electric piano, djembes, and assorted other percussion items)
- imaginative play (for instance taking care of our Little People animals in their barn)
