A little bit about me

My name is Jessica. I am a native of Pineville but lived in the state of Iowa for 30 years and just moved back to the area. I have worked with kids most of my life in one capacity or another. I spent 12 years as a nanny/caregiver to a set of triplets, one of which has spina bifida and one has T1 diabetes. So I’ve had training in the care of both of their needs. I worked in a public school as a child specific Paraeducator for 4 years with 2 different nonverbal children. One with severe autism and one with dystonia. I have 2 grown children of my own. I love children and work well with parents and their expectations as long as I know what those expectations are. I am firm but not mean or cruel and give tons of encouragement, love and affirmation to any child I am around. At this time I work Saturdays but would be free any other day.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am the oldest of 5 kids and helped raise my siblings. Babysat for all of my teen years. Worked in the nursery of the church I attended. Had my own daycare. Started and ran the before and after school daycare program at the community school in Woodbine, IA where I was living. I worked 4 years as a child specific para educator in the Missouri Valley Community School District in Missouri Valley, IA. I was a nanny/ caregiver for 12 years for a set of triplets, 2 who had health needs. I need to update my cpr training but otherwise I’m an excellent choice as a nanny caregiver for anyone’s child. I also have an associates degree in early childhood education.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to go the zoo, children’s museums, parks, or any children’s activity that involves sensory activities that stimulates a child to be involved and use their imagination and learn. I’m not a fan of using electronics to entertain a child. I prefer to interact with children and encourage brain development and active play time. I don’t mind the occasional movie, show or game, but prefer it to be for rainy days or special occasions.

The most important part about being a baby is building trust with the whole family. Parents and children. Being able to take instructions from the parents and for them to know that you’ll follow through and their children will be loved and cared for and safe. Building relationship.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The triplets I worked with for 12 years are 18 now and are still a huge part of my life. They still call me Jess Jess. One of them couldn’t say Jessica for years and would say “ Jekissa”. That is why they started calling me Jess Jess.
