Hello! I am a professional equestrian and former Summer Camp Director with over 20 years of experience leading, teaching, and mentoring children. I’m high-energy, fun, and thrive in active environments. Currently, I’m balancing life between finishing my first book and relaunching my riding program, and I’m looking to spend my afternoons helping a local family.

While I don't have children of my own, my life is full of "kids" of the four-legged variety (four horses and two dogs!), and I help care for my elderly parents. I understand exactly what it takes to keep a household running smoothly, safely, and happily.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have run a summer camp, and a after school horseback riding program for twenty five years. I have worked with kids from 6-16. My sister has two boys and I have early childhood experience with them. I have my bachelor's degree in human development. I have a clean record and a safe and reliable car.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I live on a twelve acre ranch and there is a pond and when we had camps it was fun to look for frogs or to visit the ponies. I enjoy baking and gardening, playing and exploring ideas with kids . It is so fun to watch their minds expand before your eyes! I enjoy going to Lawrence Hall of Science, and flying kites at the Berkeley marina. I am very active and have plenty of energy to help explore learning and play with your kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Social Learning Theory states that children model behavior learned from others. Being someone's child's caregiver is an important role as a behavior modeler. The most important part of being a nanny is showing kids how to hndle the ups and downs of life by modeling healthy coping skills. That is what I think is the most important part of being a nanny.
Another important aspect is relieving the parents so they have a little more space in their life for their needs, which often get pushed aside for the kids. It is vital for healthy happy kids to have healthy happy parents too. So I think a very important part of being a nanny is being helpful with cooking dinner. The parents deserve a night off!

My experience with special needs children...

I am very educated in ADD/ADHD and understand it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have never been a nanny. But, I have run a camp and riding program for kids for over twenty five years. But my early childhood experience comes from my sister's two boys. During their early years I helped out a lot while my sister had to travel a lot for work. I also have knowledge of childhood development from my degree in Human Development.
