A little bit about me

Welcome, my name is Jess! My journey started with nannying at a young age, looking after my younger siblings, then branching out to help with the kids in my neighborhood. I've volunteered with camp counseling and the Challenger's League (both baseball and soccer), giving me a deep insight to the neurodivergent/special needs community. When I was 19, I utilized this experience to start on a path of in-home ABA therapy, primarily working with kiddos from the ages of 3-10. I continued nannying outside of this with both neurotypical and neurodivergent children - the youngest being 18 months. After I left my ABA company, I became a behavioral therapist within a school for special needs (non-restraint). I integrated myself into all aspects of my students' goals, actively working to help them reach their academic, behavioral, speech, and occupational milestones - I primarily worked with kids aged 12-20. While I'm not currently in the field, my love, care, and consideration for all remains.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am huge on sensory activities! Whether that's indoors or outdoors. I am also cognizant of adjusting activities to be developmentally-appropriate. Art, music, language - all passions of mine and accessible to every creative mind out there!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being an integral part of a child's life. This position is not to replace the parents, but to be a positive addition to the family. To provide love, comfort, and support in the times where the kiddos need it - and it will be needed!

My experience with special needs children...

Quite a bit! Please refer to bio.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I worked with the sweetest kiddo for a year - starting at 18 months. He has a rare developmental disorder that varies so wildly across the board so that the parents are left wondering where exactly on the spectrum he would lie. When I started working with him, it was lots of feeding therapy, OT, and PT. Tummy time at the park was an activity we spent lots of time doing! He had just started to explore crawling, and the movements that come with it. After a year, I got to experience him taking his first steps. I often feel joy, pride, and love within this work, and this moment was no different. I still remember the smile of pride and self-confidence on his face.
