Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I started out working in the two year old room at a daycare. It was a lot of work but really fun. The pay was not good at all, that is how I transitioned into being a nanny.
Over the past 13 years I’ve volunteered at many different events with kids and I currently help out with the eight year olds at my kids homeschool co op.

Reading, coloring, cooking, taking walks, playing dress up, counting, cleaning up toys together, signing, swimming and just having fun together.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Communication with mom and dad! They are the ones who know best for their kids. No matter what I think or feel I’m there as a supporting role. Kids safety and mental wellbeing are also very important. I’m there to play and interact with the kids. Not sit on my phone!
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with an autistic boy who was 5 years old. He liked his routine and I drove him to all of his special therapies. He was sweet boy but he did take a lot of special patience and love.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Oh there are way too many to list. Luckily I have a lot of them on video! I’ve been a nanny so long that I’ve watched all these kids become beautiful adults or older teens. I have so many fond memories. They don’t necessarily remember the time we spent together but they all realize I was a special part of their lives in some way.
