My experience with special needs children...
I have babysat for a child (8, boy) with spina bifida and also a child (4, boy) with autism. I have used a catheter on the child with spina bifida and used all of the tactics the parents instructed me for the child with autism to wind down.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I love going out to the park with the kids I nanny and I get compliments from moms or Nannie’s saying, “Wow you are so involved you look like a fun nanny!” This compliment makes my day. Also I have a big personality so I love to make the kids I take care of laugh and love their time with me. Whenever we are at a park I tend to draw in kids to want to play with us and we end up with a group of kids playing hide and seek or tag!
