Caring for children has always been something I genuinely enjoy, and it’s one of the reasons I’m pursuing a career in healthcare. For two years, I volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, a mentorship program that pairs adult and teen mentors with children who benefit from having a consistent, positive role model. During that time, I mentored a young boy with autism, spending quality time with him, encouraging his growth, and building a trusting relationship through patience, understanding, and fun activities.
In addition to mentoring, I have regularly babysat my younger cousins, helping with meals, playtime, bedtime routines, and keeping them engaged in a safe and caring environment. Those experiences taught me how important it is to be dependable, attentive, and adaptable to each child’s unique personality and needs.
