Hi, I am Josie! I am currently a senior at Arundel High school and I will be attending a college in the fall; majoring in Bioengineering. I am an active member within my school - participating in the MESA team, science fair, and on the varsity ice hockey & softball teams. When I am not playing hockey for the Tricity Eagle u19 AA girls, you can find me working or researching anything in science or spending the evening playing games with my family and friends.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently a math tutor for Mathnaiusm in Severna Park, MD. I work with kids anywhere from entering pre-k up to seniors preparing for SAT and beyond! This job included 1 on 1 math skill work, as well as critical thinking development in kids. I also work with special education students, achieving their needs at their determined pace.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love anything that requires thinking or working with hands - this ranges from teaching how to bake or going outside on hikes and identifying different elements of nature. I grew up as an active member of the girl scout community, where it was encouraged to explore any interests - I carry that same excitement for new ideas with me, wherever I may be!

My experience with special needs children...

Through my previous families and during my time at Mathnasium, I've worked with a range of needs including extra focus with ADHD/ADD to calming techniques with anyone on the spectrum for autism. Through my training with Mathnasium, I gained valuable knowledge in the best ways to communicate with students of all special needs, and I am confident that if any situation was to occur - I would be prepared to handle it in the most effective way possible.
