Hi my name is Josie and I am an IBCLC student at JCSU! I am also a certified doula and lactation counselor, and I am currently working towards a sleep consultant certification!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a church nursery volunteer for 5 years. In that time, I made connections with the mothers and began to babysit for date nights and such. After a bit of time I was asked to be a mothers helper/nanny and did that throughout high school. My senior year I nannied for another family for the year. During the summer, I had moved to Florida and got a summer nannying job there as well. At the end of the summer I got a vacation nannying job and then I headed off to college.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Out of any activity, outdoor time is my favorite. I love setting up games or just exploring the outside space with the kiddos. I also love reading, setting up sensory play, and baking or cooking with a kiddo who is old enough is always tons of fun. Decorating cookies with toddlers is really a must do.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Seeing the little ones grow and blossom. I love being able to witness the little moments and milestones!

My experience with special needs children...

I was a classroom volunteer in elementary school and middle school, getting in some experience with the special needs classrooms. This led to me being part of a church program where we took care of many children with special needs one night every other month so that parents were able to go run errands or get a break because regular babysitters for special needs children can be difficult to find. I also nannied for a child with severe ADHD and I have family members (cousins and brother) with special needs as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I travel nannied for a little and helped one of my nanny families move across the country. On the night before I left, one of the girls wanted to stay up saying, "I just love you, you should stay here with us." It was heartbreaking but so satisfying to know that the kiddos I care for appreciate me and love me just about as much as I love them.
