A little bit about me

I've been working with kids - mostly infants and toddlers - for around thirty years. I specialize in pro-social early cognitive development and encouraging phenotypic optimization. My approach is largely emergent, peppered with consistent structure and ritualized creativity where possible. I emphasize time in nature, all the arts, healthy food and community interface. I tend to teach my charges French and a smattering of Mandarin for kicks. I don't do screentime, punishment or bribery, and I instill conscientiousness, self-regulation, creativity and confidence.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My work is centered around fulfilling the child's developmental potential, establishing intelligence, creativity, conscientiousness and confidence as default qualities brought to bear on a rich diversity of situations, activities and environments.

My main concern is for enriching the delight and integrity of society as a whole through ensuring that persons emerging into adulthood in it are equipped to lend the fullest expression of their inherent brilliance, depth and sensitivity to its future, in a way that is deeply fulfilling to the individual and inspiring to others.

I am also interested in passing my insights on to parents who are open to it, to maximize the ease and incomparable enjoyment of their relationship with their children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are far too many moments to choose from. One that stands out is when, on a visit to a local coffee shop for tea, my 2 year old charge finished her water on the patio and asked for more, whereupon I instructed her to take her cup into the shop and ask the barista "may I have more water please?," give her the empty cup and she would fill it.

The child immediately and flawlessly carried out this instruction, and I could see while watching through the window the sheer delight experienced by the barista on being so addressed by this sweet-mannered unaccompanied cherub.

It was a moment, among many, where my work was put into action in the confidence the girl drew from the trusting relationship I had built for us through firm consistency in administering the parameters of the social environment, and in the fruit of that trusting confidence in successfully undertaking this small task to the joy of herself and those around her.
