I have babysat for many years; I have volunteered in the children's ministry at my church for 6 years. I am a student teacher of a fourth grade classroom. I also have two much younger sisters. One is 7 and the other just turned one, so I have a lot of experience with babies.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing arts and crafts with children, teaching them how to make food and snacks, pretending, taking kids for walks and to parks. Reading is also an excellent pass time. Puzzles and other educational games are also something that I enjoy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about nannying is kindness. I believe that so much is rooted in kindness. Kindness means loving well and sometimes that means discipline. Kindness is different from being nice. Nice is generic. Kindness takes actions. I also think it is important to create a safe and consistent environment for children.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked and been around children with special needs. My cousin has autism and I have grown up with her my whole life. My younger sister has ADHD and some sensory and bathroom issues that I have had experience with. I work in a fourth grade classroom where almost every student has a special need of sorts ranging from Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, brain injury, and trauma.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moments are always those light bulb moments when kids understand something. I also love making children smile and laugh.
