I’ve worked one on one with children with various special needs in schools and private home care settings. This ranges from mild to severe autism, diabetics, epileptics, cerebral palsy, etc. This accommodative care includes but is not limited to, adaptive play, assistance with activities of daily living, scheduling/ chaperoning/ advocating during medical appointments, and healthcare/ medication management and administration.

As a high energy person myself, I often will get down on the same level as the kids and actively participate in games with the children I have the pleasure of caring for. One of my favorite moments was with a little girl I was sitting. While we were practicing her gymnastic routine in the backyard, she asked me if I was still growing up too because I’m “more fun” and “smaller” than other adults. It was a very precious moment.
