Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been working in my church’s nursery/children’s church since I was old enough to, so at about 13 I started doing that! I have a lot more experience than I was able to put. Most of the families I nannied for would reach out when the needed me, which went on for years! I have nannied up to 7 kids at once. I also have nannied from 3 months on up to 12 years of age!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Any variation of tag (freeze tag/ regular tag) is always a favorite out door activity! I have nannied for a lot of little boys (and girls) who love football, basketball, and baseball. Inside, movies nights with popcorn are always a bit hit. Of course playing with toys like barbies, legos, cars, and even puzzles. It really depends on what the kids enjoy doing!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is for sure to take care of the children. Keeping them save and out of harms way. Caring for their needs. Also realizing that you have an impact on this child’s life too. Even if it is in a small way, the kids are still watching you. So, making sure that the way you are reacting and behaving is a good “role model” for the children. Obviously letting them have fun and just be kids.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have much experience with special needs children. I, personally, would not feel qualified to be left alone with them unless there was some sort of “training” process where I could be their with their parent first, before being on my own! However, I am open to this option!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment has to be when I come in to watch the children and they immediately run up and are like “K-K!!!” (As most of the kids I have nannied for have ended up calling me) and are super excited.
