I did volunteer work in both middle school and highschool, at different daycares, schools, and nursing homes. I volunteered primarily through my school in Corning. I took Child Life classes in both college and highschool. I have been a counselor at multiple summer camps, and am a fitness coach online.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love working with animals, I keep exotic pets at home. I love creating games, playing videogames, listening to music, and all sorts of other things! I have my own portable console for older kids who want to play videogames, as well as VR. Tons of board games, educational games, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being someone who cares for kids is an important task. Not only for their physical safety, but for their mental safety too. Kid need someone who can uplift them to reach their highest potential, and help them grow and succeed.
My experience with special needs children...
I loved volunteering for the special needs classrooms when I was in school, and I think it's because I can easily connect with them. Nowadays when I see a kiddo in a wheelchair like me, I try to connect with them by sharing experiences, and giving my advice. Oh, and some wheelies...:)
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment I've had with kids is when I taught a kid how to wheelie and get down a curb in his wheelchair for the first time. Loads of smiles all around.
