I was a camp counselor during my time in high school and it was a wonderful experience. I also got to plan a few lessons with the teacher and help students with class/homework assignments.

The most important part about being a nanny is making a bond with the kids and connecting with the kids, making sure that the kids feel safe, love, cared for nurtured, making them feel just as safe as if they were with their parents and let them know that they have another person that they can trust in their life when their parents can’t be there in that time and moment but also letting it be known I’m not here to take anyone’s place
My experience with special needs children...
When I use to go to church there was a little boy with Down syndrome and I use to be in charge of watching him sometimes outside while the adults where having prayer inside or in the back while it was snack time. He wasn’t hard to care for at all and very easy to calm down. When you get to know a kid with special needs your learn their behaviors and furthermore, therefore it’s easier to Assess the situation more quickly otherwise tending to the child without having much quality time with them makes it rather difficult to bring them down from their frenzy of high emotions.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I worked with a family’s son and they told me he didn’t really like people and he’d have to warm up to me but he immediately came over to me and gave me a hug my first day! He was a non verbal 3 year old!
