A little bit about me

I adopted a baby girl 26 years ago. I have never been a nanny but a parent and thought in the right situation I have a flexible schedule and would like to enhance my life with childcare. I certainly know what each age group needs. I taught college level nite school and 5 yr. olds at Church. It was a very similar. Most pay attention, some don't. LOL.

I hike every day and still design homes. It's my passion. I have taken care of so many kids in my adult life. A boyfriend had 3 kids. His middle boy, Tom, age 8, was shy and very insecure. I took him under my wing and to The Denver Athletic Club to swim every Saturday. Then we lost touch. 10 years later I was at a store and this young man said Hi. I said, do I know you? He said, I'm Tom. I was shocked. He said, I've always wanted to thank you. You helped me swim well and and feel good about myself. Now I am going to college on a swimming scholarship. I left there with my heart full of pride for him. I love kids!!!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

A Sunday school teacher for 3-5 yr. olds for 2 years.

I taught design at The Art Institute night school college level for 3 years and hired 6 of my A+ students. Also taught a night school class at U. Of Colorado.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love Evergreen. Hiking is my passion, we could even take my dachshund. He's super friendly and loves kids. Or your dog if you have one.
Swimming is fun too at the Rec. Center. I also taught my daughter to play golf and she actually got pretty good. We lived on the swings and all sorts of fun playgrounds and we flew kites. We also joined a theater group where she was an actor and I was one heck of a set designer. And of course we painted paintings and read lots of books. You may have to teach me video games. I'm wide open to suggestions. 👌🙂

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was certified for first aid and CPR when I was a Court Appointed Special Advocate. C.A.S.A. That was where I met the lady that guided me to the Foster To Adopt program, where I adopted my daughter. I will get re-certified in August to get up-to-date.

One thing I taught her to remember always. . . Making sure the wants and needs are taken care of, but always remembering, the wants are never satisfied and the needs are always provided.

My experience with special needs children...

My daughter was a bit ADHD and Autistic. And I can help if there are physical limitations. I may not be a spring chicken but I have been building houses for 30 years, so I am pretty darn strong.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I am a new nanny but have so many memories with my girl and all her friends. Trick or treating is a great story. She had a fur doggie suit from her Uncle in Chicago at 5 years old. We then moved to Tucson. She had gotten it right before we moved. So she was determined to wear it. I wore a black dress with a huge orange scarf. She was running with all our friends and their kids. It was 85 degrees and she finally admitted the suit was just too hot. We were so far from home so I hid her in some bushes and got the suit off. Then I wrapped my scarf around her twice and tied it. She said, what am I? I said, a pumpkin. She said, oh, of course. And ran off to show off her new look. I never laughed so hard.
