More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a substitute teacher and have cared for my family’s children since I was 15yrs - present age. I have also cared for my youth minister’s children and children on occasion for a date night. I have also taken care of 4 children who are all siblings, consistently from 2011-now. I have cared for them since the first child was a newborn. The last child was born 2019, and I still care for them at times when they need a sitter. I love to help children and families by allowing myself to be a resource for the parents and children. I am learning how to be a better person and caregiver in this process. I hope my job as a caregiver impacts the children and family in a positive way and helps them feel safe and welcomed.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to play games outside or supervise them, such as jump the river, tag, hopscotch, playing with chalk, and board games inside the house. Picnics are fun to do outside also. Inside games or activities I have done are building with blocks, board games, tic-tac-toe, drawing or coloring for fun, and watching the kids favorite shows with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing for me is to make sure to let the child know that I do care for them. I make sure to let the child know their parents love them and is working hard for them. That they have a safe place with me. I believe that helping the children understand their emotions and helping them process and work through them in a positive way is important.

My experience with special needs children...

Only when I was a substitute, I would help with special needs children. I would be patient and try my best to be understanding of what they are needing. I helped with their in class work and helped them when they were having a hard day. I would try to reassure them and learn to how to interact with children with disabilities in a progressive way and create and environment where all children feel welcomed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have many sweet moments with children I have cared for. One time I had music playing and the two toddlers started dancing and it was the cutest dances ever. The simple but purest moments always warm my heart.

When I was a substitute teacher I do remember when the students would ask if I could sub for their class again. It was very sweet.

There is too many memories but I know that each time I cared for them I was always happy to see them and they were happy to see me also and it makes me smile. The time the child was not happy to see me is because they would rather have their mom or dad, buts that’s understandable!
