Hey parents! I’m Karma, an AUDHD artist full of compassion and enough energy to wear the whole family out. I have about 10+ years of experience caring for children and fondly look back on every family i’ve cared for. I spend my days making art pieces and doting on my sweet cat. I enjoy making projects that cater towards each child’s interests as I love to spark creativity and problem solving in children to keep that mind moving.
I am an avid cook/baker so don’t be surprised if you come home to the smell of cookies and dinner on the table.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have babysat neighbors and family children all my life. Back in the day I would watch my friend’s newborn afterschool while keeping up with my own coursework. I used to tutor children as well, mostly in mathematics. I often care for my nephew (6+yrs old) and used to run an afterschool cheerleading program for children aged 3-12. I also have experience watching both children and pets at the same time so if you have both I’ll be right at home!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love making up crafts to do with children especially seasonally as time moves on. I often find ways to teach children through my activities and LOVE showing them the fun science experiments we’d do as kids. Any outdoor activities are a must as well like biking, parks, pools, sidewalk chalk, nature walks. I grew up in the sunshine state and you’d have to drag me inside to do anything.
I’m also musically inclined, i love singing to children and getting them active with dancing and being silly. Learning languages is also a favorite pastime of mine, and it’s much easier to teach a kiddo at a young age! Side effects are being bilingual and disciplined.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a safe space for children. I feel like there’s a lack of empathy and patience when it comes to children with a lot of people. But theyre highly intelligent beings with no sense of the world or how to do anything. Children have to be taught everything down to making a simple peace sign with their fingers. If we’re not protecting our children and having patience while they’re learning they’ll never be taught the same for themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

The most I’ve worked with special needs children were kids with Autism and a few of my little cheerleaders in the past have had Down Syndrome. I really want to work more with vulnerable children as I myself have ADHD and Autism and grew up not getting the care and patience that I needed. Having my own disabilities makes it easier for me to connect with children and normalize fronting your own needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There was this time where I was at the store and suddenly heard a child shout my name and wrap onto my leg. At first I was clearly startled since I had headphones in, until I looked down and saw one of my clients children squeezing my leg super tight with the biggest smile on her face. I looked up and saw her parents just a little ways away and her baby brother trailing behind trying to catch up to our group hug as well. Definitely one of the sweetest moments considering I wasn’t even watching them at that current moment, you don’t realize the impact you have on children until they show you themselves.
