I have worked for a great family in Lincoln for about a year. I am now trying to build my portfolio to apply for art school and am needing a bit of a more regular and consistent schedule. This local family had a 5 year old boy and a newborn baby girl. I would drive to Omaha to take him or pick him up from school and would take the kiddos to different activities and fun places to spend the no school days. I also helped with housework, including cleaning and organizing the children’s rooms. I also nannied for a wonderful family in Omaha, Nebraska. I would arrive in the morning, start laundry, sweep the floors, clean and sanitize the counters, wash and put away dishes, and take their amazing little pup for a walk. During the school year, when the kiddos get out of school I would pick them up and drive them to their activities. I then prepared dinner for the family and finish up any laundry and other errands such as dropping off or picking up dry cleaning, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The kids had a snow day, and we decided to build an incredibly intricate fort in the basement. The nine year old I nanny (director of fort construction and management) proposed the longest to stay inside the fort would win a million dollar prize. Though he did not ever see the million bucks, the amount of laughter in that fort was worth much more, becoming one of the best memories I’ve had with those hilarious, amazing kids.
