A little bit about me

Hello!
My name is Katherine, I have been a nanny for going on 6 years, for ages 3days to 18 years!

I have a degree in special education and child psycho development, and have been published for my research on introducing STEAM education to young children, and I also write adaptive curriculum for math and science! I have over 120 hours of classes in education and professional development, including advanced first aid, CPR, and medication administration, including feeding tubes.

I love to utilize my other degree, culinary sciences in nutrition, to create great meals and introduce new flavors and foods to kids. I also adore going on outings, playing hide and seek, or exploring outside. I have my own transportation, and am comfortable with pickups, drop offs, field trips and nanny share jobs.

I also have one son, a very calm 9 month old who loves people, and would love to meet anyone who wants to see how children in my care are treated

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have also worked in a center as an infant, twos and kindergarten teacher, as well as a tutor for middle and high schoolers.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing in the yard, exploring the park, going to museums and zoos, playing legos, and the occasional movie day. I adore Disney and Bluey, and I enjoy reading a book or cooking together.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a support to the parents in raising well adjusted children who understand they are supported and cared about. I hope that my time as a nanny for a family helps the children grow, and makes the parents feel supported and less stressed.

My experience with special needs children...

I have training and many experiences caring for children with Autism, from 2-18, and I have training for medically complicated children, for instance Cerebral Palsy and brain injuries, that may require tube feeding, medication administration, and transfers. I also grew up in a home where I was the only non diabetic and know how to administer insulin and replace sensors, as well as the protocol for seizures.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My first nanny child was a girl who was 4. Her family had a way of celebrating birthdays where you got to invite one friend to Shabbat on the week of your birthday, and your party was the next morning. She invited me, over everyone in her half day preschool she said I was her best friend because I would play any game she wanted and never lied to her, and told her she was allowed to cry (we had an issue with a little bully who called her a baby). It made me so happy.

My second favorite was my 13 year old set of boy girl twins, who gave me a walkie talkie they had bought with their own allowance so they could do homework in their own rooms as they both had sensory issues that the other one made worse, but still ask me for help, or for a snack. It was awesome to see them develop mechanisms to self advocate, and we used those walkie talkies for trips to the park, and simple things such as calling them down for dinner.
