A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Kaz, and I’m an early childhood educator with 5+ years working with 4month - 10 year olds. My favorite age group is infants and toddlers—I love their silliness, their explorations, and their snuggles!

A few things about me and my approach to caregiving:

- I follow child-led education, so I take the kiddo’s lead on what they’re interested in and build on it!
- physical and emotional safety are paramount. I do not practice “cry it out” or ignore kids when they’re upset, even if it’s for seemingly ridiculous reasons.
- I let children take small risks and figure things out on their own before I step in to help—but I will always help if needed!
- Bodily autonomy—other than necessary physical needs, I let kids come to me for affection. If they don’t do hugs, that’s okay! If they want all the hugs, fantastic!
- Language—I use gentle, affirming language as often as possible, including redirection, validation, explanations, etc.

- CPR & First Aid Certified
- Do not drive

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been an ECE for five years at a five-star, NAC-accredited daycare in Milwaukee, worked day-time summer camps, and have prior babysitting experience. I’ve worked with children ages 4 months - 10 years. My favorite ages to work with are under 3s.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe in child-led care and education, so I take my cues from your kiddo! Whether it’s art projects, walks, reading, or just rolling a ball back and forth for hours on end, I like to learn what a child enjoys and build on that. For example, if a kid shows an interest in plastic dinosaurs, let’s get some Dino books! We can make a Dino sensory bin, give our Dinos a bath, take our Dinos outside and see if they like to play in the grass.

(Child-led learning means leaning into their interests and building a curriculum or activities around it. It does not mean they control every aspect of their day, especially vital routines like naps, meals, baths, etc)

The most important part about being a nanny...

Proving a safe, warm, and loving environment is my top priority. Building trust with your child is extremely important to me. While their physical safety always comes first, I firmly believe their emotional safety, if you will, is equally important. The world is a big scary place, especially for little ones, and I’m here to help them navigate that and grow into happy, confident little people.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve had some experience with children with special or alternative needs, primarily young children who show early signs of ADHD and children who are anxious.

I do not have formal education in this area, so depending on the needs of your child, another nanny may be best. That said, I am always willing to learn about your child’s needs and experiences and meet them where they are. I lead all my interactions with patience, kindness, and gentle guidance. I am happy to work with all children regardless of needs or development, and to work with parents and other caregivers on a routine and activities that best serve that child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have far too many, but a few highlights include:

- a precocious two-year old bossing me around the playground
- taking a three year old to the art museum and letting them lead
- letting my goddaughter paint my living room floors
- dance parties with a one-year old
- anytime a kiddo falls asleep in my arms
