A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Katie! I’m 20 years old and heading into my senior year at MSU as a dietetics major. I’m currently looking for a position as a babysitter or nanny!
I’ve babysat throughout high school and into my sophomore year of college, and I can honestly say I haven’t found a more enjoyable job! I’ve also worked at three different senior living facilities, which really strengthened my love for caregiving. On top of that, I helped care for my four little cousins and my baby brother growing up, which gave me tons of hands-on experience.
Working with kids is so fulfilling for me. I love knowing I can make a positive impact in their lives, and they always teach me a lot in return, especially about patience and compassion!
A little about me-I love cooking nutritious meals (hence my major!). I also love being outdoors-I’m an avid runner, but I’m just as happy relaxing outside or taking my dogs for walks. I’d be more than happy to help with cooking, errands, cleaning, pet care, or transportation!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love being outdoors-whether it’s bike riding, going on walks, or playing fun and imaginative games with kids! I’m also super passionate about baking and cooking, and I love getting kids involved to make it a fun, hands-on activity we can enjoy together.

Arts and crafts are another favorite of mine-something my grandma got me into when I was little, and it’s stuck with me ever since! I also have a big love for sports, especially tennis, soccer, and gymnastics (although I’ll admit, I’m not quite as flexible as I used to be!).

My experience with special needs children...

I have no one on one caregiving experience with special needs children. However, I have worked with several adults with special needs in long-term care facilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny experiences was working with a 10-year-old girl who lived with just her dad, as her mom was no longer in the picture. One evening, while we were watching iCarly, I was French braiding her hair for school the next day. She causally told me that kids at school make fun of her hair because her dad had to leave early for work and didn’t have time—or know how—to style it. She said she was excited to go in the next day with her hair “all done nice and wavy.” That moment made my whole month, not just my day. Knowing I could help in such a simple way that meant so much to her truly touched my heart.
